HP PSC 1401 assist?

i hold a HP PSC1401 its an all within 1 printer scanner copier.. what im trying to do for my mom though is scan a picture so we can send it online.. if pressed the SCAN button but it wont do nought i downloaded the hp photosmart but i cant see anything that says scan within neither...

Okay, here goes. First of adjectives, remove everything with that printer. Remove the USB cable. Re-download the software, adjectives of it. Re-load the software, do not plug the usb cable in until told to do it by the peak prompts. That should do it. If not, u can go to www.hp.com and do an on-line chat near a rep who will help you(free of charge). Also, if you own any registry cleaner software, that will sometimes remove the hpz08.dll file that controls the scan. I have an HP PSC 1410V. I have the same problem. All is resourcefully now.
