Here's a Windows XP driver for your modem. It works next to both XP Home and XP Pro.
Format your hard drive and next you can install.
Try finding another driver for it. Go to DriverGuide.com http://www.driverguide.com
you can buy a modem (pci ) for 20.00 and install the thing . i would not tweaking from xp to win98 , that's like going from a Escalade to a pinto
That modem should be compatible next to XP. You said you tried to update the driver. Does that mean that you already installed it. If so next I believe it should work, but you will not be able to update it. You also might want to look for newer driver on the internet. Sometimes one diver is used for adjectives OSes, so you may not find a XP driver, only a broad one. If that does not work then you might find one that will work for between $15 and $20. You could within fact install win 98, but near kids on the internet I would advise against it because it is smaller number secure.
