my hp officejet will print and fax but i detail it to scan and it said no computer connected but it still prints so i know that it is connected

I have like peas in a pod printer but mine works fine. Make sure your drivers were installed correctly, by re-inserting the disc and selecting uninstall. Then eject the compact disc drive and close it again and reinstall them. If it still doesn't work check the HP website for up to date drivers and then install them. If that fail contact where you bought the printer.
See if your tool comes with software you might necessitate to download onto your computer in lay down for it to read the scanner. Otherwise, call HP and ask for controlled support.
I have that printer and same point happened to me it said no conection but i tried to uninstall the software from the add on or remove programs thing it control panel. Then after i delete it i installed it again using the software that came the printer and it worked.
